Short Bio

Dr. Sami Hamdan is the Head of the Master's degree program in Educational Psychology at the MTA. He is interested in the causes and prevention of youth and young adults' suicide and non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI). In specific, his work has focused on the risk factors of suicide, including trauma, family history of suicide, impulsivity, health risk behaviors, sleep, and internet addiction in both crosses sectional and longitudinal studies. Recently, along with his research team, examining how does prolonged exposure to trauma increases the risk of suicide. In addition, His research interests investigate the unique risk factors of elderly suicide in terms of cultural and global aspects. He is teaching Dr. Hamdan is a member of the national council of suicide prevention.
