Dr. Hashimshony-Yaffe is a senior lecturer and researcher. She is a political scientist and Africanist with clearly interdisciplinary preference, emphasizing comparative politics aspects, historical overview and environmental point of view. She focuses on the interrelationship between state and society, local and global, politics and Environment, Israel and Africa. In all is the bottom- to-top dynamics and the role of local communities and civil society.
She has done field work in Kenya, Nigeria and Israel as well as archival work based on historical documents and is interesting in community based learning platforms.
Nurit Hashimshony- Yaffe was a visiting research fellow in African Studies Centre, Leiden University (2014, 2018).
She is currently participating in Cost Action – Drylands Facing Climate Change -Interdisciplinary Research On Climate Change, Food Insecurity, Political Instability ,
Working on Renewable energies cases in East Africa, and taking part in a research group “Covid-19 in African and Asian Drylands".
Besides academic activity Nurit worked in SPNI ( Society for protection of Nature in Israel) and managed Community Organizer Training Program for NGO’s and activists in Israel, consulted to communities and evaluate environment education programs.
