Short Bio

Dr. Trajtenberg is a Senior Lecturer and the Head of Social Studies at the Academic College of Tel Aviv-Yaffo. Her 2005 book Between Nationalism and Art: The Social Construction of the Israeli Field of Arts During the Yishuv Period and the First State Years received in n 2006 the Mordechai Ish-Shalom Award (YIS Institute Jerusalem) for outstanding scholarly work in Sociology of the Arts History.  

Dr. Trajtenberg is former Head of the Sociology of the Arts Research Network at The European Sociological Association (ESA -RN 2). Currently she is a member of the RN Advisory Committee. She studies the connection between art, culture and politics. Her research focuses on the relationship between art and nationalism, women and gender in art, and the social and political aspects of street art in Israel. 

Her recent research concerns the status of the artist and artistic carriers in Israel.
