School of Information Systems

The MTA School of Information Systems prepares highly skilled professionals to address a permanently growing demand of the Israeli high-tech industry. School graduates are equipped with a multidisciplinary background combining both technological and management disciplines required to develop and deploy the most advanced information systems and technologies. The combination of theoretical and practical courses lead by industry accomplished faculty provides a unique environment for applying the acquired knowledge in the real-world projects already during the course work. Our alumni occupy a variety of technological and management positions in leading sectors of the Israeli industry, including high-tech, fintech, public sector, and governmental organizations. Dean

Prof. Ruti Gafni

Prof. Ruti Gafni is the Dean of the Information Systems B.Sc. program at The Academic College of Tel-Aviv–Yaffo. She holds a PhD from Bar-Ilan University, Israel (in the Business Administration School), focusing on Information Systems, an M.Sc. from Tel Aviv University and a BA (Cum Laude) in Economics and Computer Science from Bar-Ilan University.

She has more than 40 years of practical experience as project manager, analyst of information systems, computer systems developer, and manager of quality assurance and methodologies in a software development house.

Her research combines several facets of information systems: adoption of new technologies and areas, with reference to the human-computer interaction. The studies focused especially on mobile technologies (Smartphones, Tablets, and mobile applications), e-learning (cooperative e-learning, video e-learning, etc.) and cybersecurity (authorization, authentication, preparedness and resilience). The results of her research are oriented both to industry and to academy, fitting to individual and organization perspectives. They were presented in worldwide academic conferences and published in academic international peer-reviewed journals.

To cope with the pace of the global challenges, there is a permanently growing need for highly skilled professionals who can understand the frequently changing needs of customers, translate the needs into product requirements, participate in and manage the agile development and deployment of the most advanced information systems and technologies. The B.Sc. degree in Information Systems provides a combination of knowledge, skills, and practical experience that is vastly demanded in the high-tech industry. In addition to the studies of the core Information Systems' technological disciplines, our students acquire a broad range of software programming and data analytics skills. This knowledge enriched with digital business management courses serves our graduates as an outstanding entry point for onboarding into the work force.

Information Systems Specializations  

B.Sc in Cybersecurity

The specialization in cybersecurity was developed to provide students with a broad and diverse knowledge base on a variety of cyberspace-related topics. The students will study technological, human, and managerial elements of cybersecurity knowledge areas and practice advanced technical topics through the dedicated practical learning courses. Among the technological courses, the program contains studies of infrastructure, architectures and operating systems for cyber defense, secure programming, cryptography, penetration testing, forensics, and more. The graduates of this specialization will be acquired with multidisciplinary knowledge of the cybersecurity ecosystem from understanding, assessing, and managing risks, throughout the proactive defense against cybercriminals and malicious activities, and up to the recommended behavioral norms and practices of information system users.

B.Sc in Digital Innovation

The specialization in cybersecurity was developed to provide students with a broad and diverse knowledge base on a variety of cyberspace-related topics.
