School of Nursing Science

In a short span of five years, the School of Nursing Science has become one of the MTA’s leading departments.Established in response to an urgent call from the Ministry of Health, the school plays a major part in the reform of nursing training in Israel thanks to an inclusive program that prepares a diverse workforce of healthcare practitioners for gainful and meaningful employment.

Dr. Dorit Weil Lotan

Dr. Dorit Weil Lotan is the Dean of the School of Nursing Science at the Academic College of Tel Aviv-Yaffo. She is a graduate of the Hadassah School of Nursing and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1993), with a master's degree in public health from the Faculty of Medicine of the Hebrew University and a Ph.D. from the Department of Psychology at the Hebrew University.

As a nursing professional, Dorit worked at Hadassah Medical Center in a variety of clinical, educational, and managerial positions, including as Inpatient Department Manager, senior coordinator and lecturer in the School of Nursing, member of the Nursing Management Board, Ambulatory Division Director, and Institutional Director of the School of Resuscitation.

Dorit is a clinical expert in management and policy, and has lectured in the field of professional identity, leadership, critical thinking, and managing complex patient care. In addition, she is a group facilitator and organizational consultant who has published articles on issues of professional identity, moral strain, sense of belonging, and burnout.

In her role as Dean, Dorit looks forward to successfully addressing the challenge of simultaneously heading a nursing school, teaching, and developing fruitful research. Her vision is to take nurses and students to the next level of professionalism and clinical work, creating a new gold standard in the profession through critical thinking, innovative problem solving, and research.

Nursing Studies in the B.S.N. Program is in line with the trend of academicization of the field and combines theoretical content with clinical studies and practical clinical experience. This combination gives graduates the skills needed to practice nursing and a primary infrastructure for managing nursing services, as well as the analytical proficiency and skills needed for continuing education throughout their careers.

Undergraduate BSN program for Ultra-Orthodox men in Nursing 

MTA offers a groundbreaking nursing degree program for Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) men, which facilitates their success in academia, and integration into the Israeli workforce. The program combines theoretical studies with applied practical clinical experience in Israel's leading hospitals,  and includes an entire framework of services to support retention to course completion, and employment opportunities beyond graduation.
